Arches and Capitol Reef

We've put quite a few miles on the old camper in the last few days but it's still holding up!

Here it is in Utah!
On the way out, we stopped in Lucas, KS.  Here the kids are exploring a huge ceramic sculpture of a toilet bowl!  There were some very funny details, like cell phones that said "Help! I've been dropped in the Lucas Toilet Bowl!"

Besides Arches National Park, we also stopped in Capitol Reef, which was beautiful!  We really liked the river and all the rock formations.

Mom and me with tufa at Mono Lake

We're in Lee Vining now.  This morning, we'll take the camper through Tioga Pass at about 10000 feet.  Let's hope it makes it!

Last night, we went for a walk around Mono Lake.  These strange formations are called TUFA.  They're formed by fresh water springs bubbling up through the salty lake.  The lake level has receded quite a bit, which led to them being exposed.  The water in Mono Lake feels slippery and soapy and leaves a film on you when it dries.  Very strange!
Kids got in trouble for climbing on the tufa.
The signs clearly say no climbing!
